Dr. Dora S. Pinkhasova
Dora S. Pinkhasova, M.D., was born in the former Soviet Union and graduated from Samarkand State Medical Institute in Uzbekistan in 1981. She completed her internal medicine and neurology training at the same university. While in Uzbekistan, Dr. Pinkhasova had worked as a clinical practice neurologist over 10 years and was exposed to many different neurological disorders. At the same time, she continued her medical education and completed several skill-enhancement courses. In 1990 she was trained in acupuncture therapy at the Department of Neurology and Acupuncture of the 2nd Moscow Medical Institute in Russia. Her dedication to medicine - and particularly to neurology - was awarded by her being named Highest Medical Degree Physician.
In 1995 she emigrated to the United States and devoted several years to neurological research at the Lab of Brain Sciences at Emory University in Atlanta, under the guidance of Dr. Bruce Wainer, professor of neurology and pathology. She was involved in several research projects in the areas of neuropathology, pharmacology and molecular biology.
In 2000 she moved to Albany, N.Y., and completed her formal internal medicine and neurology residency training at Albany Medical Center. After her residency, she moved to New York City and completed her fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at the Department of Neurology at Columbia University in New York. Her fellowship was focused on electromyography and neuromuscular disorders.
Dr. Pinkhasova became a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 2005. In July 2005, she accepted the invitation of the Chiari Institute neurosurgeons to join them as a full-time neurologist. Her clinical interests are diverse and include headaches, neuromuscular disorders, electromyography, cerebrospinal fluid physiology and pathology.
