Germ Cell Study
Preservation of Germ Cells from Prepubescent Boys Prior to Gonadotoxic Therapy
Protocol ID
Protocol Description
The purpose of this study is to enable retrieval of testicular tissue from pre-pubescent males (boys unable to produce an ejaculated specimen) who are about to undergo a treatment for malignancy which may destroy their ability to produce sperm. This tissue will be cryopreserved (frozen) for potential future use in reproduction. This may give pre-pubertal boys undergoing such therapy the opportunity for retrieval and storage of gametes (immature sperm cells) prior to therapy which might have the undesired effect of destroying the ability to produce sperm in the future, while methods for maturation of these cells is being developed.
Eligibility Criteria
