Diamond Blackfan Anemia Registry
The Epidemiology and Biology of Diamond Blackfan Anemia: The Diamond Blackfan Anemia Registry (GAC 0028)
Protocol ID
Protocol Description
Diamond Blackfan Anemia (DBA) is a rare pure red cell anemia (a decrease or absence of red blood cell component of the blood) resulting from a failure of the bone marrow (the inner portion of the bone where blood cells are made) to produce red blood cells. The purpose of this study is to better understand DBA by exploring and identifying the genes that are responsible for this disorder and the mechanism of inheritance. These efforts may lead to a better understanding of why the condition develops (and eventually lead to improved treatment or management). The research may also eventually produce a test that can predict who is likely to be affected by the trait/disorder and to what degree.
Eligibility Criteria
Patients diagnosed with Diamond Blackfan Anemia (DBA) and their family members
