LIJ Welcomes First Baby of the New Year

The Richter family of Richmond Hill, Queens, rang in the New Year by celebrating the birth of their new baby boy, born just four seconds after midnight at LIJ Medical Center, making him the first baby of 2009 delivered in Queens and possibly New York State. Proud mom Leah Richter, shown cradling her son (yet to be named), also delivered her five other children at LIJ, who range in age from two years to 12.
