We are proud to be part of MMC’s global pathway of education and information,” said Michael J. Dowling, president and chief executive officer of the North Shore-LIJ Health System. “We look forward to becoming a long-term video partner with Medical Missions for Children."
In video partnering with Medical Missions for Children (MMC) www.mmissions.org, North Shore-LIJ joins with such reputable medical institutions as the National Library of Medicine, the Medical Centers at Harvard, Yale, Johns Hopkins and Columbia, and the Center for Disease Control, which have all been invited to share their programming with medical personnel in over 108 underserved countries around the world.
“By adding Medical Update to our roster of medical programming we seek to narrow the knowledge gap between healthcare providers in the developed world and those in caring for patients in developing nations,” said John Riehl, president and chief operating officer of MMC. “Through the use of our state-of-the-art communications infrastructure, we touch the lives of more than one million critically-ill children each year. It’s estimated that our broadcast footprint encompasses nine million physicians, 14 million nurses, five million healthcare workers, 89,000 hospitals and 16,000 universities and medical schools. The target demographic includes healthcare workers, medical students, professors and health-related policy makers."
