Michael C. Fener Appointed Executive Director of Plainview and Syosset Hospitals

Michael C. Fener has been promoted to executive director for Plainview and Syosset Hospitals, part of the North Shore-LIJ Health System. He served previously as deputy executive director at Plainview for five years. In his new role, Mr. Fener will have day-to-day operational responsibility for both community hospitals, reporting to Deborah Tascone, RN, North Shore-LIJ’s regional executive director, and Mark Solazzo, the health system’s chief operating officer.
“Michael knows the needs of the Syosset and Plainview communities extremely well,” said Mark Solazzo, chief operating officer of the North Shore-LIJ Health System. “He has worked closely with Debbie Tascone to improve the quality of care and strengthen the patient experience. We’re confident he will continue to enhance the reputation of both hospitals as a vital community resource.”
Mr. Fener has worked for the North Shore-LIJ Health System for more than 18 years and has had positions of increasing responsibility at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, Franklin Hospital in Valley Stream, and LIJ Medical Center in New Hyde Park before going to Plainview. His responsibilities have included managing financial performance, coordinating construction and inspection projects, as well as, implementing programs to promote quality and service excellence that enhance the patient experience. A graduate of Adelphi University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Mr. Fener earned his MBA from Hofstra University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
