State Senate Names Neeta Shah, MD, to Health Research Science Board

The board, administered by the New York State Department of Health, reviews research funding proposals for the cure and prevention of breast cancer, and also considers requests for the release of confidential pesticide information for specific health-related research projects. The board’s recommendations are passed on to the New York State Commissioner of Health for approval. In addition to serving as North Shore-LIJ’s vice president of women’s health services, Dr. Shah is the acting chair of medicine at North Shore-LIJ’s Forest Hills Hospital, and serves on North Shore-LIJ’s Institutional Review Board, Clinical Information Systems Steering Committee, Education Committee and Academic Awards Committee, among others. She is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Medical Association, the Association of Program Director in Internal Medicine and the Association of Chairs and Chiefs of Medicine. She also serves as president of the New York State Program Directors in Internal Medicine. She received her medical education at J.N.
