Brochopulmonary Dysplasia - Jet Ventilation Study
High Frequency Jet Ventilation for evolving Brochopulmonary Dysplasia: A Pilot Study
Protocol ID
05.10.109
Protocol Description
There are several types of respirators available to assist the breathing of premature infants. Routine care usually involves treatment with one of these three approved devices: conventional, slow-rate ventilator (CV), high frequency oscillation (HFOV), or high frequency jet ventilation (HFJV).
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the HFJV is better than the other devices for treating very small babies who are at high risk of developing a chronic lung condition called bronchopulmonary dysplasia, or BPD.
Eligibility Criteria
Babies born prematurely that need to be on ventilators
