Monti Foundation Supports Renovations at North Shore's Bone Marrow Transplant Unit

Thanks to the generosity of the Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation, North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) recently completed major renovations on the hospital’s Don Monti Bone-Marrow Transplant Unit, which includes four new state-of-the-art patient isolation rooms, a family lounge, a multi-purpose staff room equipped with teleconference technology and other upgrades. Celebrating at a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony were, from left: Ruthlee Lu Bayer, MD, director of the hematopoietic stem cell transplant unit at NSUH; Danielle Faria, executive vice president of the Monti Research Foundation; Caroline Monti Saladino, the foundation’s president; Richard Monti, the foundation’s co-chair; Michael Dowling, president and CEO of the North Shore-LIJ Health System; and Susan Somerville, RN, executive director of NSUH. In addition, the Bone Marrow Unit received accreditation by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy, making it the first and only accredited adult transplant unit on Long Island.
