Brain Tumor - Tissue Donation Study

Protocol ID

06-086

Protocol Description

The purpose of the research is to collect tissue, blood and information so we can study how brain tumors grow. We hope these studies lead to new and effective therapies in the future. There is no direct benefit to you for participating. No new therapy is being offered as a part of this study at the present time.

This study is part of the Tissue Donation Program, at The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, in the North Shore-LIJ Health System.  The Tissue Donation Program (TDP) oversees a data and tissue bank, developed to support research on different diseases and conditions.   The TDP collects and stores many types of samples, along with health history information from participants.  These samples and data are made available to scientists for use in medical research studies, however participants’ names or other identifying information is not given to the scientists.

A portion of the collected tissue will be used immediately to study brain tumors.  The remaining portion of tissue will be stored at the TDP tissue bank at The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, to be used in future studies, which may or may not be related to brain tumors.
