Pacemaker Implant Study

The Utility of 64-Slice Three Dimensional Computerized Tomography In Biventricular Pacemaker Coronary Sinus Lead Implantation

Protocol ID

06-098T

Protocol Description

The purpose of this study is to see whether review of a patient's CT scan prior to implantation of a Bi-V pacemaker by the implanter will have a shorter operating time for the placement of the pacemaker than those who have had a CT and have not had it reviewed by the implanting physician.

Currently, the standard of care is implantation of the Bi-V pacemaker without a CT scan. This study is being done to see if review of the CT scan before receiving a pacemaker by the implanter can help guide the implanter to make the procedure faster and safer for the patient.

It is also being done to see if having this CT scan with review by the implanter prior to the pacemaker procedure should be done in everyone receiving your type of pacemaker.
