Severe Ulcerative Colitis - Pediatric Study

Predicting Response to Intravenous Corticosteriod Therapy in Pediatric Patients with Severe Ulcerative
Colitis: A Multi-Center Study

Protocol ID

06.10.083

Protocol Description

The purpose of this study is to assess the outcome of children with ulcerative colitis (UC), who are admitted to the hospital for intravenous corticosteroid therapy. We would like to identify patient and disease related characteristics that could predict whether a child will respond to this treatment. We hope this will allow patients and families to decide about alternative therapies at an appropriate time, rather than prolonging corticosteroid therapy, when it is not successfully controlling the symptoms of active colitis.
