Parkinson's Disease Genetics Database
Protocol ID
Protocol Description
The purpose of this research is to create a genetics database designed to help with the identification of genes that may lead to Parkinson’s disease (PD). This is a collaboration between the Division of Movement Disorders and the Biorepository at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research (FIMR). The Biorepository at the FIMR collects, stores, and processes blood samples. The goal is to identify known and yet-to-be identified genes that may affect the risk of developing PD. Parkinson’s is a serious disease that is believed, in some cases at least, to have a genetic cause. In the future, we plan to allow other researchers to have selected access to the database and repository for future research in the field of genetic studies for PD.
