 Efficacy of Pimozide Augmentation for Clozapine Partial Response

Protocol Description

The purpose of this project is to find out if small doses of pimozide (an antipsychotic medication, taken by mouth) will be helpful in reducing symptoms (such as hearing voices, having trouble in organizing one's thoughts, lack of interest in life events and social activities), compared to placebo, when given to patients with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder who are already taking clozapine.  Pimozide has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of a movement disorder called Tourette syndrome.

Eligibility Criteria

Patients with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder who are already taking clozapine
