BMI and Waist Circumference Correlate with GERD and GER-Related Symptoms in Children

Protocol Description

The purpose of this study is to identify an association, in children, between body mass index (BMI) and the circumference of the waist and gastroesophageal reflux –related symproms (GER-related symptoms) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), or damage to the esophagus caused by gastroesophageal acid reflux. This association has been identified in adults.  Children who are scheduled to undergo an upper endoscopy  will be asked to participate in this research study.
