Dr. Frank Field to host North Shore-LIJ Health System's "Medical Update" TV Series for 6th Season

“Medical Update” with Dr. Frank Field, the North Shore-LIJ Health System television series, begins its sixth season of 13 new programs on Saturday, October 11.

"I am so pleased to return as the host of this truly unique television series for a new and exciting sixth season, and of having the chance to fully exam hot medical issues and new research discoveries along with the viewing audience, " said Dr. Field. “Our medical experts and guests really enjoy having the luxury of addressing their specialties in a more in-depth format not seen anywhere else on television.”


The 2008-2009 season’s line-up of programs will bring viewers new information on the latest research on Alzheimer’s disease and on the vagus nerve, treating colon and pancreatic cancers, recognizing substance abuse, fighting infectious diseases, the latest in orthopedic back surgery, the new Katz Women’s Hospital and the Women’s Health Institute.

Dr. Frank Field, TV pioneer, host and moderator of “Medical Update” can be seen on Saturday mornings at 11 AM on WLNY-TV Channel 55, LI Cablevision Channel 10, on Time Warner Cable in Manhattan, the Bronx and Queens, and satellite accessible on DirecTV and Dish TV in the NY metropolitan area. In addition to cable and satellite TV, the program is rebroadcast on LIJ Medical Center’s “Medical Update” TV channel 14, and can also be viewed on demand on North Shore University Hospital’s patient channel. Elaine Wohl of the North Shore-LIJ Public Relations Department is the executive producer of the TV series.

The program is designed to educate and inform the viewing public about the latest medical issues, whether they are cutting-edge surgical and clinical procedures performed by North-Shore-LIJ doctors, new research projects, compelling patient success stories, or new programs and state-of-the-art services available to patients at North Shore-LIJ facilities.
