Southside Hospital Receives Extraordinary Gift

August 28, 2008

Helen K. Dodd, a Long Island resident, who loved to travel but always returned "home" to Long Island, died earlier this year, a few months shy of her 105th birthday. She left a generous $1.6 million legacy to Southside Hospital and the community she called home, donating money to further excellence in patient care at the hospital that served her and her family. Pictured at a ceremony honoring Mrs. Dodd's generosity are (left to right): Winnie Mack, RN, executive director, Southside Hospital; Michael Dowling, president and chief executive officer, North Shore-LIJ Health System; Arthur Field, Mrs. Dodd's nephew; Richard Hand, Esq., a former Southside Board Member, and Warner Zumbrunn, representing Mrs. Dodd's estate.
