Autism - Genetic Study

Genetic, Immune and Androgenic Risk Factors for Autism and Related Neurodevelopment Disorders

Protocol ID

09-036

Protocol Description

This study will measure SOAE’s (spontaneous otoacoustic emissions) which are sounds that are naturally produced from the inner ear.  The number of these sounds may be influenced by certain hormones and may also be controlled by genes. This study will explore the possibility that these inner ear sounds may indicate a role for either hormones or genes as one of the causes of autism or other related disorders in children.
