Protocol Description

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of an experimental drug to treat symptoms of autism in children. This study has two purposes. The first is to test how the study drug (memantine) is absorbed and eliminated by the body in 6-12 year old children with autism or autistic spectrum disorders, to help determine dosing in children. The second purpose is to test the tolerability and effectiveness of memantine compared to placebo.

Children with autism or autistic spectrum disorders
