Chemotherapy with cisplatin and paclitaxel is the standard treatment for cancer of the cervix which is not curable by surgery or radiation.  Cisplatin is the single most effective drug against this kind of cancer.  Paclitaxel is the standard second drug added to cisplatin. In addition to studying the combination of cisplatin plus paclitaxel, other combinations of drugs (eg., topotecan plus paclitaxel), as well as newer drugs (eg., bevacizumab), need to be studied in this disease.

The purpose of this research study is to compare the effectiveness, safety, and the impact on health-related quality of life of four different drug combinations: cisplatin and paclitaxel, cisplatin and paclitaxel plus bevacizumab, paclitaxel and topotecan, as well as paclitaxel and topotecan plus bevacizumab.
