Geared for community physicians, this year’s lecture was given by Eugene Krauss, MD, chairman of orthopedic surgery at Glen Cove Hospital, who presented a slide show about a volunteer orthopedic mission that he organized along with several hospital staff members last Thanksgiving in Ghana, West Africa. Dr. Krauss gave an overview of the healthcare system in the poor country of Ghana and detailed the successful hip and knee replacement surgeries his team performed on local patients.
The Bilello Lectureship, while scientific, has always reached into the field of public interest. Among those in attendance were Dr. Francis Bilello’s wife, Jeanne, her daughter and two sons.
