The North Shore–LIJ Health System signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Rajasthan (a state in India) to assist in developing their emergency medical infrastructure, research and education initiatives. North Shore-LIJ executives visited India in February 2007 and recently a delegation came to the United States as a follow-up to that visit. Rajasthan officials are looking to improve Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in India and North Shore-LIJ is providing consultative services as they develop their own system. North Shore-LIJ and Rajasthan officials have been working together since 2006 when the Chief Minister (proxy for Governor) visited the health system in 2006 and came away impressed with North Shore-LIJ’s approach to EMS.
