Grandparents and their families gathered at the North Shore-LIJ Center for Tobacco Control (CTC) to recognize the annual Great American Smoke Out, which encourages people of all ages to stop smoking. Grandchildren of some the program’s recent graduates gave their grandparents congratulatory posters for quitting smoking and clearing the air. With a combination of professional support and therapies, CTC’s free six-week, smoking-cessation program has a success rate of 85 percent for those who attend at least three-quarters of the program.
