About the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System
The North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System began as a small community hospital in the 1950s. Today its facilities include 15 hospitals, three regional trauma centers and over 130 ambulatory care sites, making it the largest health care system on the East Coast. Today, North Shore University Hospital is the top hospital among those in the nation's largest metropolitan areas, according to a new study by the Washington, D.C.-based Consumer's Checkbook (an independent, not-for-profit organization).
The excellent reputation of the individual facilities and the health system as a whole attract healthcare practitioners and students of the highest caliber.
