Adiel Fleischer, MD

North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) and LIJ Medical Center
Dr. Fleischer oversees obstetrics/gynecology services at NSUH and LIJ, and is involved in the development of women's health services, including the new Katz Women's Hospital. He has been associate chairman of the department since 1999 and chief of maternal-fetal medicine at LIJ since 1985.
Dr. Fleischer also serves as obstetrical director of the LIJ Regional Perinatal Center (a New York State designation), overseeing the quality of obstetrical care provided at all affiliated institutions. He is associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY.
Dr. Fleischer is currently chairman of the Safe Motherhood Initiative Committee, appointed by the New York State Commissioner of Health to lead a task force to reduce maternal mortality. In addition, he has started a new initiative to improve perinatal safety across the health system.
Dr. Fleischer is the author of numerous publications relating to improvements in perinatal care and safety. He has been recognized on Long Island, in the metropolitan area and nationally as one of the best clinicians in maternal-fetal medicine.
Dr. Fleischer received his medical degree from the University of Romania Medical School, Romania. He completed his internship in pediatrics at NSUH, his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY, and a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine/perinatology, obstetrics and gynecology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY.
