Adult Partial Hospital Program at The Zucker Hillside Hospital

The Adult Partial Hospital Program provides daily group, individual therapy and crisis interventions utilizing short term treatment modalities and intensive medication management. The program targets acute psychiatric symptoms for patients who are at high risk for hospitalization, or to help shorten inpatient hospitalization by providing intensive day to day supervision and coordination of treatment with significant collaterals. Clients must be exhibiting acute onset of symptoms that can reasonably be expected to abate within 6 weeks. The client may have a chronic mental illness but they are entering a phase of active symptoms that requires more intensive monitoring and day to day treatment that is normally provided in the regular day treatment program. The Adult Partial Hospital Program is deemed clinically necessary to reduce active symptoms, increase functioning and prevent further deterioration that could lead to inpatient hospitalization. We treat a wide range of psychiatric illness ranging from schizophrenia, affective disorders and other less severe but nevertheless debilitating illnesses such as anxiety disorders and other Axis 1 illnesses that, at the time of admission, this level of care to alleviate symptoms and prevent possible hospitalization. We will work with individuals with substance abuse disorders as long as the individual has other major Axis 1 problems that justify admission to the program. We also have a DBT module to treat borderline personality disorders as long as there is a concurrent Axis 1 diagnosis that rationalizes admission to the program. |
