Mark J. Rosen of North Shore University Hospital To Lead International Cardiopulmonary Society

(NORTHBROOK, IL) - Mark J. Rosen, MD, FCCP, was inducted as President of the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) at CHEST 2006, the College's 72nd annual international scientific assembly, held October 21-26, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. Rosen is presently Chief of the Divisions of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York. He also serves as Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. As ACCP President, Dr. Rosen will build on the strengths of the ACCP to assist and support its members in delivering patient-focused care.

?The College's greatest strength and its core mission has always been to improve patient care through education,? said Dr. Rosen. "As President of the ACCP, I hope to maintain our exceptional education and advocacy efforts, while providing all possible support to our outstanding new programs."

As an active Fellow since 1981, Dr. Rosen has served the ACCP in many capacities, including chairing the Scientific Program Committee for CHEST in 1998, the annual international scientific assembly of the ACCP. He also acted as course director for the ACCP Pulmonary Board Review Course from 1998 through 2001.

Dr. Rosen received his medical degree from Brown University Medical School in Providence, RI. He completed his residency in internal medicine and his pulmonary medicine fellowship at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York, NY. He also completed a Critical Care fellowship at St. Vincent?s Medical Center in New York. Dr. Rosen's research and scholarly interests include pulmonary disease and critical illness in patients with HIV infection, respiratory failure, and medical ethics.

As a nationally recognized educator, Dr. Rosen has been named repeatedly in the "Best Doctors in New York", "Best Doctors in America", and "Best Doctors in North America" listings. He has also published numerous articles and textbook chapters, and co-edited the textbook, HIV and the Lung.

Dr. Rosen and his wife Ilene reside in Great Neck, NY. They have two daughters, Betsy and Emily.
