| The Stern Family Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation (CECR) and the Orzac CECR have earned five-star rankings as part of US News and World Report’s 2011 “America’s Best Nursing Homes” report.
In addition, the Orzac CECR was among 18 nursing homes nationwide ranked on the US News 2011 Honor Roll, the “gold medal” for nursing homes. This distinction places the facility in the top one percent of nursing homes for quality nationally. |

| Ten North Shore-LIJ hospitals— Forest Hills Hospital, Franklin Hospital, Glen Cove Hospital, Huntington Hospital, LIJ Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, Plainview Hospital, Southside Hospital, Staten Island University Hospital and Syosset Hospital—have received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Achievement Award. The award recognizes these hospitals’ commitment to and success in implementing a higher standard of stroke care by ensuring that stroke patients receive treatment in accordance with the latest evidence-based guidelines. The 10 hospitals are New York State-designated stroke centers and have multidisciplinary stroke teams available 24 hours a day to assess and treat stroke patients. |

National Research Corporation (NRC) has recognized LIJ Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital and Staten Island University Hospital as 2010/2011 Consumer Choice Award winners for the nation's top hospitals (9th consecutive year). |
| The New York State Department of Health recognized North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) and LIJ Medical Center for their cardiac expertise, each earning a double-star ranking for success rates that are significantly better than statewide averages. NSUH was cited among the state’s best hospitals in outcomes for patients undergoing surgeries to repair or replace heart valves and for those in need of surgeries for both valve/coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. LIJ was cited as one of only two hospitals in the state with significantly better outcomes for angioplasty survival. In addition, NSUH has significantly better outcomes for patients undergoing emergency angioplasty. | |
| Franklin Hospital was ranked by HealthGrades, an independent ratings organization, as the best hospital on Long Island for joint replacement outcomes as well as the best in Nassau County for its overall success in orthopedics and joint replacement. Nine North Shore-LIJ hospitals were rewarded for their quality performance as part of the US Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service (CMS) Health Quality Incentive Demonstration™ project. This national pay-for-performance (P4P) project requires the submission of multiple measures related to care of patients with heart failure, pneumonia, acute myocardial infarction and surgery. The health system earned $814,000 in incentives, the highest monetary award of any participating health system (2010). |
