The Administrative Fellowship Program at North Shore-LIJ has provided me with an outstanding opportunity to gain first hand exposure to the delivery of healthcare outside the scope of my post-graduate studies. As an administrative fellow, I have been fortunate enough to be given an "all-access" pass to environments that are predominately only available to seasoned and well respected healthcare administration professionals.

My fellowship privileges have given me opportunities to meet one on one with senior leadership, attend senior leadership meetings and events and be involved in a variety of projects at every level of the health system. This, coupled with my own initiatives, has given me a better understanding of the many vital and complex roles of a healthcare administrator and what I need to do to be successful in this field.

Throughout all my rotations, I have been privileged to be challenged by my preceptors to think critically and effectively while producing the best outcomes possible for any given issue. Also, as a result of going through the fellowship, I have come to the understanding that learning by observation is just as significant as any hands-on project that a fellow may be involved with.

The Administrative Fellowship Program is a comprehensive executive development program that has many rewarding attributes. The program provides an abundance of resources that are of benefit to the fellow and the health system alike. It is an exceptional post-graduate learning experience in a healthcare setting and is by far one of the best decisions someone seeking a career as a healthcare administrator can make.
