Brain Aneurysm Survivors Walk to Raise Awareness
More than 800 brain aneurysm survivors and their family and friends joined doctors and nurses of North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) on October 2 at Jones Beach State Park to celebrate their successful treatment and raise funds for the nonprofit Brain Aneurysm Foundation. The second annual Brain Aneurysm Walk was organized by North Shore-LIJ's Harvey Cushing Institutes for Neuroscience Brain Aneurysm Center at NSUH and the Brain Aneurysm Foundation. The event, the largest walk of its kind in the United States -- raised $45,000 for brain aneurysm research. Currently, one in 50 Americans is at risk for harboring a brain aneurysm -- a life threatening condition.
