Brain Tumor Institute
The Brain Tumor Institute is a multidisciplinary program that focuses on the management of brain tumors. Under the direction of Dr. Michael Schulder — an internationally recognized authority on the treatment of brain and skull base neoplasms — it offers comprehensive diagnosis and multi-modality treatment while advancing research and providing education for the community and healthcare professionals.
Staffed by a team that includes neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, neurologists, neuroradiologists and neuro-pathologists, the Brain Tumor Institute fosters a unique collaboration between the Departments of Neurosurgery, Neurology and Medical and Radiation Oncology. The team works together with the common goal of providing the most up-to-date evaluation and personalized treatments for patients with brain tumors.
Our areas of expertise include stereotactic neurosurgery, skull base surgery, minimally invasive endoscopic surgery, pituitary surgery and stereotactic radiosurgery. These techniques are spurred on by our research, which addresses important fundamental and clinical questions about brain tumors and gives our patients access to the most current clinical trials and treatments.
Clinical Trials at the Brain Tumor Institute focus on innovative technologies, new drug therapies and the basic science of brain tumors. Some of these trials are conducted in conjunction with the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research. Marc H. Symons, PhD, is the director of the Laboratory for Brain Tumor Biology at the Feinstein Institute.
