Cardiac Patient Care Areas — Continuum of Care
The Cardiothoracic team at North Shore University Hospital provides a seamless approach to patient care. This comprehensive and coordinated care is by supported through out the continuum with specialized inpatient adult cardiac service areas. These areas include:
- The Cardiothoracic Unit (CTU) — dedicated to the pre- and post-operative care of open-heart surgery patients.
- The Coronary Care Unit (CCU) — dedicated to caring for patients with acute and life threatening cardiac disease.
- The Cardiac Surgical Telemetry Units and Step Down Unit — dedicated to the care of or patients with pre- and post-operative cardiac surgical conditions.
- The Cardiac Medical Telemetry Unit — dedicated to patients with cardiac disease, pre- and post- cardiac intervention and medical/surgical conditions that may require telemetry.
