Clinical Nurse Specialist

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery plays an important role as an expert clinician, educator, consultant, case manager and researcher. The CNS works with medical staff and nursing staff. The CNS is the coordinator of patient care before and after the hospitalization for open heart or thoracic surgery. While the patient is at the hospital, the CNS helps with any patient and family issues. The CNS is a resource for all patients and their families.
