Mental Health
Mental health issues are among the leading causes of disability worldwide, according to studies conducted by the U.S. Surgeon General's Office and the World Health Organization. Every year, about 8 percent of the population will suffer from depression, 3 percent from bipolar illness and 1 percent from schizophrenia. The full spectrum of mental health issues plague millions of people. Dozens of studies are underway at Zucker Hillside Hospital and the Feinstein Institute to identify causes of these conditions and develop new treatments.
