Clostridium Difficile
Clostridium difficile (C. difficile ) is a type of bacteria that can cause lower belly (abdominal) discomfort, bloating, and loose stools. The bacteria grows in the large bowel, also called the colon, and produces a substance that can cause diarrhea. C. difficile is a spore that can be found in the environment. These spores may be on toilet seats or places unwashed hands have touched, such as door knobs.
