LAKE SUCCESS, NY – Cohen Children’s Medical Center (CCMC) today announced the opening of its Children’s Heart Center satellite office at 9 Vermont Drive in Lake Success, NY.

The Children’s Heart Center at CCMC is the only program on Long Island that offers comprehensive pediatric cardiology care including pediatric open-heart surgery and pediatric electrophysiology.

Located in the Lake Success Quadrangle, the new 4,400-square-foot facility is composed of five exam rooms for pediatric cardiology patients; three echocardiography rooms; a separate fetal echocardiography room and consultation area for expectant mothers; and an echocardiography reading room.

The new facility also offers patients and family members an accessible parking lot next to the drop-off area, as well as a spacious waiting area. The physicians, nurses and support staff provide multidisciplinary services—including noninvasive echocardiography—to diagnose fetal, newborn, infant and children with heart abnormalities, as well as adults with congenital heart disease.

“Many cardiac conditions can be identified and treated, when early diagnosis and intervention is made possible,” said Rubin Cooper, MD, chief of pediatric cardiology at CCMC. “We look forward to working with expectant mothers, young patients and their families at our new home at 9 Vermont Drive.”

The new office, located within a mile from the CCMC’s main campus in New Hyde Park, is staffed by physicians, clinical nurses, echocardiographers and fetal echocaridographers, and rhythm and adult congenital specialists.

Among the features of the new practice is a display of child-focused artwork donated by Teenok Heart Foundation.
