Dietetic Internship Program

The North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System Dietetic Internship Program (with a medical nutrition therapy emphasis) strives to prepare individuals to transition from student to professional by integrating didactic knowledge of food and nutrition with practical experience in dietetics. The program provides the highest quality of clinical care, educates current and future generations of dietetic practitioners, searches for new advances in nutrition and food service through outcome-based dietetic research, and promotes health education. This dietetic internship program has a nutrition therapy emphasis and will take 37.5 weeks (1,250 hours) to complete.

Interns will be based at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and complete rotations at many of the NSLIJHS facilities. The program meets the performance requirements of The Standards of Education and of The American Dietetic Standards of Professional Practice for dietetic professionals. This Dietetic Internship has initial accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE*) for entry-level dietitians. Graduates of this program will receive a verification statement that will establish eligibility to take the Registration Examination for Dietitians.
