Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Services at Forest Hills
The Department of Laboratory Medicine at Forest Hills Hospital is accredited by the College of American Pathologists - a mark of excellence in the practice of pathology and laboratory medicine. The laboratory also holds a New York State Department of Health License, as well as, Food and Drug Administration and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments certification. The laboratory is under the medical direction of board-certified pathologists with expertise in a wide range of pathology. Highly trained medical technologists ensure rapid turnaround times and efficient reporting of test results. Forest Hills Hospital offers a comprehensive array of routine and STAT tests to our inpatients and outpatients in the following majority specialty areas:
- Clinical chemistry
- Routine hematology
- Routine coagulation
- Endocrinology
- Immunochemistry
- Microbiology
- Therapeutic drug monitoring
- Histopathology
- Cytopathology
All laboratory work requires a written physician’s order. The order must include test(s) to be performed and the patient’s diagnosis. Test results will be sent to the ordering physician. As necessary, our pathologists are available for consultation with a physician.
Blood Bank
Forest Hills Hospital is proud to provide our patients and community with a choice of special donor procedures. Forest Hills has an autologous donor service and directed donor service. The patient is required to have medical clearance before the unit(s) can be collected. Volunteer donors are always welcome! There is always a need for blood for our patients.
