Laparoscopic and Laser Surgery at Forest Hills
Laparoscopy is a technique used to address many different problems in the abdomen. It requires the use of small equipment and cameras that are inserted into the abdomen through small punctures rather than large incisions. Initially referred to as laser surgery by many, laparoscopy is making many surgeries far less debilitating. Laparoscopic procedures have recently become the standard way of approaching many problems and Drs. Moises Tenembaum and Michael Drew were the first surgeons in Queens to use this technique.
These techniques are also applied to hernia, colon and gastric surgery as well as spleen and adrenal gland problems, among others. Patients cared for in this way save more than just an unsightly wound. They usually have less pain and fewer of the more common complications such as pneumonia. Generally, most laparoscopic procedures have patients going home from the hospital that day with much less pain and return to their usual activities earlier.
Before having any surgery, see if the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery at Forest Hills Hospital can help you to be home sooner and feeling better.
