Physician Assistant Services at Forest Hills
Forest Hills Hospital's Department of Physician Assistant Services centralizes much of the administration of physician assistant (PA) services formerly provided by each individual service department. The essentials of credentialing, privileging and coordination and dissemination of information regarding recruitment, retention and utilization of the PA staff is performed through this office.
The Department of Surgery has replaced surgical residents and begun the development of a house staff program consisting entirely of licensed PAs managing surgery and surgical subspecialties. Thus far the feedback has been entirely positive as each general surgery attending polled has responded positively to the change. The goal of the new program is to provide cost-effective, continuous care for each surgery patient. PAs are one effective way of eliminating the itinerant nature of rotating resident house staff.
We expect much success from the growth of this department and look forward to opportunities to service other departments of the hospital should this need arise.
