The Division of Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, Throat or ENT) at Franklin Hospital strives to provide superior care to the community for all ear, nose, and throat related disorders. The Division provides emergency care for in-house and emergency room patients including packing/cautery of anterior and posterior nose bleeds, fiberoptic laryngoscopy examinations for airway emergencies, removal of foreign bodies from the ear, nose and throat, and many other necessary ENT procedures. Areas of surgical expertise include nasal and sinus surgery, snoring and sleep apnea surgery, phonosurgery for voice tumors and disorders, and pediatric and general ENT surgical procedures.

Diagnostic Testing

In-house services available include:

• Plain X-rays for nasal and facial bones fractures, sinuses
• CT scanning of the sinuses, ear and temporal bones, head, neck and chest
• MRI scanning of the brain and related inner ear structures, sinuses, ear and temporal bones, head, neck and chest
• MRA (Magnetic Resonance Angiography) scanning of the neck and brain blood vessels
• Thyroid ultrasound testing
• Nuclear medicine testing of the thyroid and parotid glands
• Carotid artery Doppler testing

Laboratory Testing

Elective services available in the outpatient setting in our private offices include:

• Complete Audiologic Evaluations (hearing testing)
• Brain Stem Evoked Response testing (for hearing and neurologic disorders)
• Electronystagmography and Neurocomm testing (for balance disorders)
• Electrical stimulation for chronic tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
• FEESST (functional endoscopic evaluation of swallow with sensory testing for swallowing disorders)
• Videostroboscopy (voice disorder testing)
• Nasal, nasopharyngeal and laryngeal endoscopic diagnostic procedures
• Allergy testing
