Surgery at Franklin Hospital

The Department of Surgery at Franklin Hospital offers a comprehensive and diverse number of services in all of the following categories: general surgery, vascular surgery, colorectal surgery, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, thoracic surgery, plastic surgery, oral surgery and podiatric surgery. The Department of Surgery and its various subspecialties are fully staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and provide an immediate consultative service for inpatients, ambulatory surgery patients and Emergency Department patients.

The entire area of operating suites has been totally renovated and two brand-new operating rooms have been added to ensure unquestioned capability to provide all of the procedures required for the surgical care of today's patients.

The seven operating suites are equipped with state-of-art minimally invasive technology, exceptional monitoring capabilities and advanced anesthesia equipment. In addition, the post-anesthesia care unit (recovery room) has also been renovated to ensure the safe recovery of all ambulatory and in-house patients. The dedicated, experienced and caring group of operating room nurses and technicians, recovery room nurses and ancillary personnel provide an aura of safety, caring and expertise to meet the individual physical and emotional needs of all surgical patients.

The Department of Anesthesia has been expanded and energized. These physicians and certified nurse anesthetists provide a variety of safe and innovative anesthesia techniques, as well as post-operative pain management protocols. A separate service focusing exclusively on the management of both acute and chronic pain has been initiated.
