Gene Tangney

Mr. Tangney is regional executive director of North Shore-LIJ’s Central Region which includes North Shore University Hospital, LIJ Medical Center, the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York, Forest Hills Hospital, Glen Cove Hospital and the Zucker Hillside Hospital. In this role, his responsibilities include coordinating activities within the region to focus on building physician partnerships and looking for new opportunities for growth and investment.

Mr. Tangney most recently served as the health system’s chief administrative officer. Prior to that, he was vice president and administrative chief of staff, providing administrative support to the CEO, ensuring development and execution of the health system’s strategic objectives, assisting the CEO with the organizational development of the senior management team, and acting as an external liaison to the public, private and government sectors.

In addition, Mr. Tangney has served as vice president of health system operations and administrative director for the Center for Emergency Medical Services. Before coming to the health system, he was employed by Catholic Medical Center’s Mary Immaculate Hospital where he managed the pre-hospital care services division and several other support service departments within the medical center.

Mr. Tangney received a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from Long Island University, and completed both The Results-Based Leadership Program and Cycle of Leadership Program at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
