Geriatric Unit at Glen Cove

At Glen Cove Hospital, we provide comprehensive care with dignity and respect to our geriatric population in our 44-bed inpatient unit. Care is provided on a collaborative basis with a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, nurses, dieticians, social workers, speech therapists and respiratory therapists. These professionals work together to evaluate and treat health problems specific to the needs of the elderly patient such as:

  • Dementia
  • Depression
  • Diabetes
  • Falls and mobility
  • Arthritis

Support is provided through information, referral and counseling services.

Support services include:

  • Rehabilitative services
  • Geriatric Medicine
  • Dentistry
  • Psychiatry
  • Home health
  • Community outreach

Together with the Hospice Care Network, the geriatric unit also provides compassionate end-of-life care to patients and respite to their families. The care of these patients focuses on pain management and treatment of symptoms in a holistic and sensitive manner.
