Medical Oncology at Glen Cove
|
The Division of Hematology-Oncology at Glen Cove Hospital is dedicated to the caring and treatment of those with hematologic and malignant disorders. We serve the local Glen Cove community as well as those in neighboring towns. We have both outpatient and inpatient services.
Our outpatient center provides a comforting atmosphere for patients as well as their families.
We are staffed with two full-time medical oncologists, multiple highly experienced oncology nurses (OCN certified RNs available), and a support staff who work diligently to provide a seamless journey through the cancer treatment process. Office hours with patient visits occur alongside our treatment room. In the treatment room, chemotherapy and other systemic therapies/injections are given. We are able to infuse newly-FDA-approved medications including antibodies and biologic therapies. We also administer growth factor support as needed. Our oncologists provide first and second opinion hematology-oncology consultations.
Because we are a hospital-based program, we have inpatient hospital facilities readily available to our patients. Additional private practice oncologists have admitting privileges in our hospital as well. Our goal for the oncology program is to provide state-of-the-art care to our cancer patients. We are able to do this in a community hospital setting so that patients may stay close to their loved ones and support systems, as they travel through this significant time of their lives. We also have the benefit of being part of the North Shore-LIJ Health Care System, where we have access to a multitude of other services, including, for example, bone marrow transplants and clinical trials.
