Neurologic Rehabilitation at Glen Cove

Neurologic Rehabilitation is a dedicated subdivision of the Rehabilitation Unit, offering programs for individuals with a wide variety of neurological diseases, including stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Guillian Barre, neuropathy, cerebral palsy and other disorders of gait and mobility. The initial assessment is performed by a neurologist specializing in rehabilitation, who then develops an appropriate individualized treatment plan in conjunction with a team of therapists, nurses, psychologists, dieticians, social workers and consulting physicians. Further diagnostic procedures and treatment procedures are available. Among them, Botulinum toxin therapy for spasticity and muscular pain syndromes are offered to appropriate patients.

Neuro-Rehab Support Group

This group seeks to provide assistance, education and emotional support for those patients who have suffered a neurological event. This support group is offered to new and former patients and their family members. The group meets bi-monthly on Tuesday evenings, from 7-8pm.It is led by a rehab psychologist and social worker.
