Pathology at Glen Cove
The Department of Pathology is staffed by two full-time pathologists, each of whom is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.

The hospital operates a Rapid Response Laboratory which is fully automated and staffed 24 hours, seven days a week to perform stat testing. Routine testing is referred to the NSLIJ Core Laboratory. The laboratory also utilizes the specialized laboratories of our associated hospitals including North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset and Long Island Jewish Hospital.
Surgical pathology services are also provided to the hospital with quick turnaround times due to the use of custom voice recognition software. Intraoperative consultations are performed for the operating rooms, cystoscopy and radiology. Both narrative and synoptic summaries are provided on our reports of cancer specimens.

The pathologists regularly participate in educational activities and are actively involved in the cancer program. They present active cases as well as material in a lecture/seminar format. Teleconferencing is used for interdisciplinary meetings including the breast cancer teleconference as well as informal consultations on specific cases. A pathologist in our department is the chairman of the cancer committee and the coordinator of the cancer conferences.
