Overview of Services
The Division of Community Psychiatry and Substance Abuse Services (Community House) is part of the Department of Psychiatry at Glen Cove Hospital — Mildred and Frank Feinberg Campus. Founded more than 30 years ago, the division is committed to treating people with substance abuse disorders and their families. Both day treatment and outpatient programs are available.
The four distinct programs in the division are the Adolescent Services Unit, Women and Children's Program, Dual Diagnosis Services Unit and Drug Free Outpatient Program. These specialty programs treat a wide range of patients and are well integrated, which ensures comprehensive patient care. Patients with both substance abuse disorders and psychiatric disorders can be treated, as there is significant psychiatric support afforded to each of the programs. The division does not offer freestanding psychiatric care.
The Division of Community Psychiatry and Substance Abuse Services has an outstanding reputation in the treatment community, and has served thousands of patients. In 2003 the Community House Dual Diagnosis Services Unit received the Office of Mental Health award for service excellence.
