House Calls
Who Says Doctors Don't Make House Calls?
House calls from a bygone era are making a comeback, thanks to the caring medical staff at the North Shore-LIJ Health System. Addressing the needs of today's aging population, North Shore - LIJ has developed a House Calls Program for homebound individuals. This essential program provides expert, compassionate medical care within the privacy and comfort of the patient's home — that's good medicine for individuals having difficulty getting to doctor appointments.
Serving Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens, the goal at North Shore-LIJ is to respond to the needs of the entire community, including patients who are physically unable to leave their homes for doctor visits. The HouseCalls Program eases the burden of limited-mobility patients by providing at-home visits from physicians and nurse practitioners who are experts in geriatrics, internal medicine, and family practice. They coordinate services for patients as needed, including prescriptions, laboratory, X-rays and home healthcare.
Who Qualifies for the House Calls Program?One-to-one, ongoing medical care is provided to patients with a vast range of diagnoses, including:
