I enjoyed every day of my fellowship because I could expect new challenges and gain new experiences that will help me throughout my career. My time here was both fun and incredibly meaningful. The best part was how the entire organization embraces the program: from the chief executive officer to the frontline, everyone was very welcoming and enthusiastic to share their experiences and give me meaningful projects. Through this fellowship I have gained a knowledge base that gives me an advantage over fellows from other hospitals and systems. Being able to work at multiple sites within the entire system has given me a unique understanding and broad perspective of healthcare.
Having multiple fellows in the health system was a huge advantage. We talked often about our rotations and projects and I learned almost as much from their experiences as my own. It was like four fellowships in one. I also used other fellows as sounding boards to try new ideas and get help on projects.
The program also provided a formal support structure not found in any other residency or fellowship: a preceptor at each rotation, a mentor in senior leadership, a program coordinator and past fellows throughout the health system were all invaluable resources.
